C. S. Lewis’ Oxford
7 Nights in Oxford, England
For centuries, Oxford has been synonymous with academic excellence. Many of world history’s intellectual giants got their start in Oxford. But Oxford has produced few Christians as well-known and well-loved today as C. S. Lewis.
Join us as we explore Oxford as Lewis knew it. We’ll wander through the halls of Lewis’ home, the Kilns. We’ll visit his church and resting place. We’ll walk Addison’s Walk, reminiscing on the conversation that led Lewis to Christ. We’ll visit the pubs frequented by Lewis and the literary Inklings. And along the way we’ll explore one of the most history-shaping cities in the world — so there’s plenty for non-Lewis-lovers, too! In addition to the beauty and history of Oxford, you’ll also have the opportunity to join us in London, Cambridge, Bath, or the famed Cotswolds to see more of what England has to offer.
What sets Lewis House Travel apart is not just visiting historical Christian sites, but in our unique offerings while we’re there. In Oxford, we’ll meet Oxford professors Michael Ward, author of Planet Narnia, and Simon Horobin, author of C. S. Lewis’ Oxford. You’ll also have the opportunity to enroll in Oxford for a day: sit in a lecture hall and hear a lecture from an Oxford professor in Theology. You can, optionally, join one of our book groups, in which we’ll read C. S. Lewis books in the very places they were conceived.
In addition to our travel and activity plans, our Oxford trip comes equipped with Guides. You can read more about them below. We hope you’ll consider joining us for this adventure.
Our trips are first come, first served. We have 20 available spots and you can reserve your spot today by completing the form below! Filling out the form reserves your space until deposits are due. Deposits are due December 1st, 2025.
We do have a minimum of 12 travelers to make the trip feasible, and we will make that final decision this fall.

Accommodations
We’re thrilled to stay in the Old Bank and Old Parsonage hotels in Oxford. These 5-star hotels are beautiful accommodations in the heart of Oxford and will make navigating the city a breeze. We’ve reserved a block of rooms in each, and how we’ll use them will depend on how many travelers we have on the trip. But trust us: you can’t go wrong with either hotel!
The Old Bank hotel is in the city center. If you walk out of the front door of the Old Bank, you’ll see University Church. That’s the church in which C. S. Lewis preached his famous sermon “The Weight of Glory.” Just beyond that you’ll see the iconic Radcliffe Camera. At Old Bank, you’ll literally be in the midst of the spires.
The Old Parsonage hotel is next door to the massive University Parks (in which you can find a bench dedicated to J. R. R. Tolkien) and Keble College. It is also beside the popular neighborhood Jericho, which is a vibrant scene of bakeries, restaurants, and shops — and home to the publisher Oxford University Press. It’s only a few minute walk to city center and buses run along the road frequently.

Derek King – Guide
Derek King is the scholar-in-residence at Lewis House. Dr. King has authored three books, including a recent one with Oxford University Press. He has taught the Philosophy of C. S. Lewis and published an academic article on Lewis in The Journal of Inklings Studies.

Schedule
The following schedule is tentative. Once the number of travelers is confirmed, we will book activities and that should change the schedule. The final schedule will be released in early 2026 but this is a good approximation of what to expect on the trip.
The trip will balance offering adventures in Oxford and giving you time to explore as you wish. As you might expect, there are ample opportunities in Oxford to shop, visit museums, tour particular colleges, visit world-famous bookshops or pubs, see Harry Potter filming sites, take a boat on the river, stroll through the Botanical Gardens—you get the picture. Oxford has something for everyone. We’ll prioritize Christian history in town, but there’s so much more to do and we’ll give you the flexibility and space to do it. Strictly speaking, everything is optional. But everything in italics is included in the cost of the trip. The excursions will incur extra costs.
Notice: several events involve fair amounts of walking. Of course, it’s up to you if you’d like to join walking tours or hikes. But we’ll try to accommodate you however we can if you prefer not to walk.
