The Picture of Dorian Gray Book Group
Very few things engage our moral imagination quite like good fiction books. They communicate virtues and vices in a way that just sticks. Philosopher James K. A. Smith gives a hint as to why: “We are narrative animals. [Our] very orientation to the world is fundamentally shaped by stories.” So join us as we are swept into the story of Dorian Gray, a young man who sells his soul for the promise of eternal youth. Although not a Christian book, this literary classic has much to say on the true nature of beauty, evil, and a life well lived.
Meeting dates:
July 9th, 5pm-6pm (discuss chapters 1-4)
July 23rd, 5pm-6pm (discuss chapters 5-9)
July 30th, 5pm-6pm (discuss chapters 10-14)
August 6th, 5pm-6pm (discuss chapters 14-20)
This book group is free and open to the general public. We have extra copies of The Picture of Dorian Gray for sale for $5 at the bookstore!
“Tea”-ology | Saturday, July 27th, 10am-11:30am
Talking theology is fun enough on its own, but it’s extra fun with tea and scones in hand. Join us Saturday, July 27th as our very own scholar-in-residence, Dr. Derek King, hosts a theology Q & A. If you want to drink tea, eat tasty treats, and expand your theologian horizons, this is the event for you. “Tea”-ology is free and open to the public, but we ask that you pre-register ahead of time to ensure we have enough food.
We’ll collect questions beforehand, so if you have a theology related question for Dr. King, you can submit it here.

So what is Lewis House?
Lewis House is both an organization and a place. As an organization, Lewis House is a Christian ministry aimed at forming students and community members at the intersection of faith and academia. As a place, Lewis House is a hospitably intellectual hub aimed at inviting students and community members in for study, questions, food, discussions, and more.
