I wanted to join a community of people who challenge each other intellectually, delve deeper into theological discussions, and form connections rooted in the shared belief in Christ.

What made you want to be a Lewis Scholar?

I was classically educated and loved reading challenging books and discussing the theological and philosophical side of things with my peers. I wanted to be a Lewis House Scholar so that in a large university like UK I could meet people who also had a passion for reading about theology and having deep and meaningful conversations. I also want to learn more about my faith and about different theological backgrounds in the Christian faith so that I can be better equipped to explain the why behind what I believe.

My entire life I have loved reading, writing, and discussing literature, theology, and the significance behind the great works I read. I also love pouring into others and being poured back into myself while trying to understand and love more deeply the Lord and all that He created. Entering this new season in my life I have found myself in a place where I am now looking for new ways to connect with others with this passion as well.

I really wanted to grow theologically in my faith and this seemed like the perfect space to do so. I had friends that were scholars and said I would love it so they convinced me to apply. As a second year scholar, I am so happy I chose to do this program. I have grown so much in my ability to think thoroughly through deep faith questions and love getting to hear from those wiser than me.

I wanted to be a Lewis House Scholar so that I could be apart of an interdenominational program that would challenge my thinking in a way that creates more light than heat. The Lewis House environment, encompassing an enormous array of Christian thought, is the perfect environment to grow closer to Jesus Christ.
